BAND

"The Ship's BAND"

This is the musical division of the corps, made up both Senior and Junior cadets that have shown an interest in a musical instrument. In essence we are the heart beat of the corps.

Knowing how to play an instrument is not necessary, as we will work as a team to teach an enthusiastic and willing cadet to play one of our instruments. Currently in our band we have three (3) Snare drummers, one (1) Bass drummer, three (3) Trumpet players, and currently two (2) Glockenspiel players. The leader of the Band is the Drum Major.

Not only do we parade on our normal night of Thursday, but the cadets have also made the commitment to be at our practices every Sunday. At our practices we go over drill, music, and the ability to combine the both of them, to strive to be the best marching band we can.

Beyond our corps every year we have a weekend where we gather with other bands from all over the Alberta Division. We work on music pieces and drill and at the end of the weekend we have a ceremonial divisions (Inspection from the Division Commander). Where we show off what we have learned from the weekend.

So if you like music, love drill, love challenges and want to be a team player come try out for The BAND.
